Effectiveness of Group Psychotherapy with Dynamic-Communication Approach on Rejection Sensitivity and Anxiety Symptoms in People with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

چکیده :

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Group Psychotherapy with Dynamic-Communication Approach in reducing rejection sensitivity and anxiety symptoms among individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Methods: This quasi-experimental study employed a pre-test-post-test control-group design with a two-month follow-up. Participants were 36 individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder who were recruited through purposive sampling from counseling centers in Isfahan and randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 18) or a control group (n = 18). The intervention group received sixteen 90-minute sessions of Group Psychotherapy with Dynamic-Communication Approach, delivered twice weekly over eight weeks, whereas the control group received no intervention during the study period. Data were collected at pre-test, post-test, and follow-up using the Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire and the Beck Anxiety Inventory. The data were analyzed using repeated-measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc comparisons. Results: The intervention group showed significant reductions in rejection sensitivity and anxiety symptoms compared with the control group (P < 0.001). Bonferroni tests indicated that these improvements were maintained at the two-month follow-up. Conclusion: Group Psychotherapy with Dynamic-Communication Approach was effective in reducing rejection sensitivity and anxiety symptoms in individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder and may be used as a complementary psychological intervention.
