Clinical Applications of Stem Cell Biology and Tissue Regeneration in Spinal Cord Injuries and Trauma

چکیده :

Introduction: Spinal cord injury(SCI)causes lasting motor and sensory impairment,and because the centeral nervous system regenerates poorly,current care remains mostly supportive.Stem cell therapy and tissue engineering have emerged as startegies to promote repair.This narrative review examines the biological rationale and clinical applications of stem cell_based approaches for tissue regeneration after SCI. Methods: This narrative review was conducted by searching PubMed and Google Scholat,ad well as the Iranian databases SID,Civilica,Magiran,and IronDoc.The sources included reviews and clinical trial reports or mesenchymal,neural,and induced pluripotent stem cells in SCI,and their findings were grouped under common themes. Findings: These cells may aid recovery by replacing lost neural cells,modulating inflammation,and supporting remyelination.Biomaterial scaffolds may further improve cell survival and integration.Early clinical studies suggest acceptable saftey,although reported functional benefits vary. Conclusion: Stem cell_based strategies show promise for SCI ,but concerns about tumorigenicity,immune response,ethics,and protocol standardization must be addressed through larger,standardized trials before routine clinical use.
