Nursing Care of Complications of Mechanical Ventilation with Positive Pressure : A Narrative Review

چکیده :

Abstract Background: In patients whose respiratory system does not function properly and significantly, the most common treatment is the use of positive pressure mechanical ventilation with controlled mandatory modes, which has its own complications if nursing care is not performed properly. Method: This narrative review examined Persian and English literature retrieved from SID and PubMed databases without time restrictions up to June 2026. Keywords include: Mechanical ventilation٫Ventilator٫Complications of mechanical ventilation٫ pancuronium bromide٫Fentanyl٫sedation٫pneumonia. Findings: Initially, 72 articles were extracted, and after another researcher reviewed them and removed duplicates (9 articles) and unrelated items (44 articles), the remaining 19 articles were included in the study. This study revealed that forced control modes have more complications than other ventilator settings, but an informed nurse can recognize adverse complications and not only treat them but also prevent them from occurring. Conclusion: Although mechanical ventilation with controlled forced modes can cause many complications for the patient, its life-saving effects cannot be ignored. The best solution to this problem is to train nurses to prevent the occurrence of these complications.
