The ChatGPT Effect: Reshaping Writing and Research in Computer Science Academia

چکیده :

The advent of ChatGPT has triggered a disruptive transformation in academic practice, compelling a critical assessment of its role. This systematic review investigates the multifaceted impact of this large language model on writing and research within the specific ecosystem of Computer Science (CS). By analyzing literature from major databases (2022-present), we synthesize emergent use cases across the research lifecycle—from literature synthesis and code documentation to drafting and educational tutoring. Key findings reveal a dual-edged "ChatGPT Effect": it demonstrably enhances efficiency and accessibility, yet concurrently introduces profound challenges related to academic integrity (e.g., authorship, plagiarism), output reliability (e.g., "hallucinations" in citations and code), and embedded biases. We conclude that ChatGPT represents a paradigm shift, not merely a tool. Its responsible integration necessitates proactive adaptation of pedagogical assessments, research methodologies, and ethical frameworks. Given its dual role as both a primary user and developer of this technology, the CS community is uniquely positioned to lead in establishing the norms and safeguards required for its constructive adoption.
